Art Out Loud comes to Chatsworth

Movers and shakers in the art industry descend on Chatsworth in September for a host of talks

It’s fabulous to see art in the flesh, especially if the setting is as sumptuous at Chatsworth House, but it’s better still when art world experts are on hand to talk about it.

This is exactly what Art Out Loud, an annual festival of talks from art industry movers and shakers, will do when it runs from 23rd-25th September 2016. Set in the grounds of Chatsworth House, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire (and recently featured in H&A), the festival draws together names such as Edmund de Waal, Sir Roy Strong and Julia Peyton-Jones to talk about everything from white porcelain (de Waal) to directing a gallery (Peyton-Jones).

Alongside Art Out Loud there will also be a selling exhibition held by local collective Peak District Artisans, an association of local artists, designers and craftsmen. It will provide an opportunity to view (and buy) work that complements the themes of the festival, from jewellery and furniture to watercolour paintings and porcelain. And of course, inside Chatsworth itself you’ll also find a wealth of decorative art acquired by the Devonshire family over hundreds of years.

Art Out Loud is at Chatsworth, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1PP from 23rd-25th September. 01246 565300;
